About shortl.ee
Our Mission: Amplifying Local Voices
AI-generated news summaries from large platforms are often superficial, misleading, and riddled with factual errors. They rarely cite actual sources, lack local context, and treat complex regional stories as generic foreign news.
We built shortl.ee as a quality alternative. Yes, we use AI — but with strict editorial oversight, curated local sources, and a deep respect for the local news ecosystem. Every summary links to original reporting so you can verify and explore further.
Our goal is simple: help local voices reach global audiences without sacrificing accuracy. AI is here to stay — we should use it as an amplifier, not a substitute for original reporting.
How It Works
Our AI system monitors public RSS feeds, official announcements, and press releases. Each day, it compiles a curated selection of the main events — what matters most. We also monitor international coverage of Estonia to capture how Estonian events are reported globally.
Each summary includes links to related coverage so you can explore further. However, it's important to note: not all referenced materials are used to produce summaries. We prioritize public and official sources. Listed articles represent related media coverage that is semantically close to the topic.
We never use editorial or paywalled content beyond publicly available headline. Paywalled articles may appear in references as related coverage, but our summaries are built from openly available information.
Support Quality Journalism
AI summaries are not a replacement for quality journalism and the work of reporters. The referenced articles represent real effort by journalists and publishers who work to keep the public informed.
If a story matters to you, please read the original sources. That's how local media survives — and how you get the full picture.
Quality & Transparency
The feed is fully automated, but we review all published materials and fix errors as they appear. If you notice quality issues, please bear with us — we're constantly improving the system.
